Scrapbook layout – Memories Captured

Hello, Crafty Internet! Today I am sharing a layout I did using pieces from a My Creative Scrapbook kit. I think the ingredients are from the November Limited Edition Kit. Scrapbooking is something I am still getting a feel for. I have made a few layouts in the last few months and it is a craft I really enjoy. This time last year if you had asked if I did scrapbooking I would have looked at you like you’d lost your mind. Now, I am hooked on this craft. It has given me a reason to go back through our old photos to find ones to use for layouts. I end up taking a nice walk down memory lane. When I came across the picture of my father holding my sons on his lap, I had the focal point for my latest page.

I couldn’t wait to get started. The whole thing came together so quickly it was as if the page built itself.

I have been hoarding my chipboard pieces like a dragon guarding treasure but I got some out to use for this. Chipboard does me no good sitting pretty in a box. Of course, I was very careful using it since I didn’t want to mess it up.The chipboard used here came from Scrapiniec.

So anyway, I started out with a gel medium to seal the background. After it dried, I added some texture paste through a stencil. When it was dry, I added clear and white gesso over the background. I used color sprays from Lindy’s Stamp Gang to add color to the background. The colors were Mango Mania and Magical Mai Tai with some Milk Chocolate Brown. I have only just started using the Lindy’s sprays. As usual, I am 10 years behind everyone else when it comes to paper crafting, but I am doing my best to catch up.

I did some stamping on the background once everything was dry. The script is from a Bo Bunny set I have had for ages and used often in art journaling or other projects. The border came from a stamp set from 49 & Market called Gabi’s Line Stitch Stamp set. Ranger Archival ink in Jet Black was used for the stamps.

I used Prima Marketing/Finnabair micro beads to add some texture to the flowers and help bring everything together. The clear gems are also from Prima. I love using them. They add a delicate touch to any project. Also, you can gesso over them and paint them any color to match what you may be working on. I left them clear for this.

The finished page came out really well. I may be getting the hang of this scrapbooking thing after all.

This was a really fun layout to do. I didn’t expect it to come together so well, but it surprised me…or I surprised me..either way, I love it.
