Hello, Crafty Internet! Today I am sharing a scrapbook page I created with the kit from My Creative Scrapbook for March. As always, the Limited Edition kit comes with amazing materials to create all manner of fun things. I immediately thought of this page when I was going through all the stuff in the kit. I have really embraced scrapbooking and it has been so much fun. The internet is absolutely loaded with ideas and tips for scrapbooking and I am soaking them up. My Pinterest boards are full, I tell ya.
The paper used comes from Prima Marketing’s Amelia Rose Collection. It is very lovely to work with. I didn’t do much on the background. I added some stamping, paint splattering, and some distressing of the edges, but I kept if fairly simple. I loved the design on the paper too much to get too carried away.
One of the first things you will find when you’re looking at scrapbooking advice for beginners is to remove a portion of the middle of the bottom page of your layout. It is an excellent way to be frugal with your fancy paper and you can create embellishments. The scrapbook paper is usually 12 x 12, so if you’re careful, you can cut out a good potion of the middle to use on another project. The backside of the black base page had these little blocks that I cut out to look like tags. I used my crop-a-dile to make the holes and some thick thread for the tag tails. For the little cluster pictured above, I added a flower and a key to finish out the embellishment. Of course, it all got splattered with black paint, because that’s how I roll.
It’s pretty much the same story for the cluster at the bottom. The flowers and a metal clock embellishment came from my stash. I added a piece of the backside of the top paper to the tear for some added interest. I just love those tiny tags. The remember sticker was included in the kit and is part of the Amelia Rose collection.
My boys are grown now and there aren’t that many opportunities for adorable pictures like the one I used here. I added the date because it seemed to fit. I used the stickers included in the Limited Edition kit for the numbers and used a black marker from Faber Castell to color them with. The stamps in the background are some random things I have in my stash.
I will be the first to admit that I am still finding my way when it comes to scrapbooking. My style so far seems to go from pretty simple layouts to cramming everything I can on the paper. I think that scrapbooking, just like card making, takes a while to find out what your style is. There are so many options, so may different products, so many different ideas, that making the thing is only part of the experience. Whatever it is, I am totally in love with this genre of paper crafting.
