MFT Design Team Challenge, Part II

Hello, Internet!

The second category for the MFT Design Team Challenge I am submitting a card to is all about color. Color is so important when paper crafting and it is something I do struggle with. As with anything, it takes practice. I find myself playing more towards neutrals and subtle colors than bold, in your face color and maybe that’s just my personal style. Crafting, to me, is an art, and we all have our own style.

On to the card!

The ingredients:

I used a couple of MFT stamp sets while making this card. The Hula Hoop stamp and die set from the Pure Innocence collection is one of my favorite stamps in my stash. I created a background from the MFT ink cube set # 18 by swiping the cubes across the cardstock base. I think it turned out really nice.

Here’s a closer look at the base:

I just love this effect.

Next, I moved along to my focal point.

I used my Mini Misti to get everything lined up. The little star came from the Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set.

Here is the final card:

After using the Die-namics die to cut out my little girl, I colored her up with Copic Markers: Cool Gray # 3 (C-3), Sugared Almond Pink (RV02), and Skin White (E00). I’m not very good with shading so I didn’t really add it here. As I grow my collection of Copic Markers I’ll practice more. I took the same star from the holiday stamp set I used on her shirt and added a few over the sentiment and called it done.

Happy Crafting!

Sarah
