Hello, Crafty Internet! Today I am sharing a project I made using the My Creative Scrapbook January Kit. I must confess right now that I saw a project similar to this one on Instagram but I couldn’t find it when I went back to give a credit source. There may be a lot of us posting similar projects online because we have the same kit and great minds think a like ‘n all. I just want to make sure I always give credit to those who inspire me.
Here are the kit contents in case you’ve forgotten:
I know I gush like an insane person over these kits but I just love them.
So I started out with this piece of paper from 49 & Market from their Scents of Nature line. I cut a wavy like border around the edge and matted it to a 12 x 12 piece of black cardstock. Matting cardstock is just my thing I guess. I like the way it acts as a frame for whatever project it is. Walnut Stain helped to create the splashes you see there.
One sheet of paper had these little happy faeries playing in the flowers on it. I thought they would be just adorable framed with the cover from the little booklet included in the kit. My first thought was to emboss the frame but then I decided black acrylic paint would work just as well. I also decided to add some black splashes to the background to help bring things together. The Walnut Stain was not working out like I’d hoped.
Using a packet of flowers and stickers from the pack, I started to decorate around the frame. I loved the flowers but the sentiment just seemed wrong.
So I used a black Copic marker and colored the top of the stickers. They took coloring very well; no smudging or smearing. It dried almost immediately.
And here is the finished piece. I added some black gems to finish off the project. This would work nice in a little girl’s room framed in a 12 x 12 picture frame. After this project, I think I want to invest in one of those trimmers that has the different edges you can change out to make your projects more interesting.
Thanks for stopping by!
