Hello, Crafty Internet! Today I am sharing some cards I made using the starter paper pack that came with my Sizzix machine. I have had this paper for a good minute. My not-so-new BigShot machine was a Christmas gift a couple of years ago. I used some of the paper to play with my new toy. because that’s how you do. Then, the paper pack went into the tote I keep my 6 x 6 papers in and wasn’t thought of again until today. Recently, I began reorganizing my little crafting space and so this paper pack was rediscovered. I decided to use it to make a few cards and get it out of the tote.
Here’s the paper pack I used:
For this first card, I used my tonic studio brushes to brush on Salty Ocean and Lucky Clover Distress Oxide Ink to create the background. The clouds were made using a My Favorite Things die set I have had since Heck was a pup. (Side note: this was one of my grandmother’s favorite expressions. I don’t know who Heck was but apparently, he was pretty old.) The balloon came from a Richard Garay stamp set called Balloon Fun. I used a banner die and a sentiment from Penny Black’s Sweet Wishes stamp set for the title.
The measurements for the cards – the panel is 4 x 5 1/4 with the base at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.
This next card I made using the “How We Roll” Stamp and coordinating die from Simon Says Stamp. I used my white gel pen and black lining pen to doodle some dots and stripes on the candy wrappers. This card does tweak my brain just a little because of the dotty background and the colors, but I think it is still cute, just a little busy.
This card I created using a stamp set from Wplus9 called Bubble Talk. This little elephant is just adorable. I colored him using Copic markers and messed up the shading around his ears. I did go back with the colorless blender pen and try to undo the damage, but it didn’t work as well as I’d hoped it would. The card is still cute and anyone who gets a card I made should know something is going to be off about it because that’s my style of crafting, I think.
For this next card I used some star punches and scattered them on the left side of the card. I stamped the sentiment from the Penny Black Sweet Wishes stamp set and punched it out. I popped it up on foam dots and added it to the panel. When I had everything glued down, I used my Glossy Accents on the stars. I love Glossy Accents. It makes everything feel like a puffy sticker.
This last card was fun. What looks like a shadow in the picture is actually another die cut in black slightly offset to give the illusion of depth. I think this is a beige color or very light tan. I’m not good with color. Anyway, The sentiment and die cuts come from a My Favorite Things Stamp set “All About You.” I love this set. It is probably my favorite one from MFT. I kept this card very simple with the die cut word as the focal point.
I do apologize for the lighting in the photographs. My craft corner has become crowded and disorganized and it makes my brain hurt to look at it. I have been working on reorganizing my space, but it takes time and well, I am lazy. Also, it probably would go a lot faster if I didn’t stop to play with everything thing I find that I forgot I had. It’s like Christmas.
So, I hope you enjoy the cards I made with this little paper pack. I didn’t keep the scraps, and I could have made more cards. The truth of the matter is, I wasn’t very fond of the paper. The patterns just weren’t my thing at all and the colors weren’t all the great in my opinion. Still, I did make some cute cards out of the mix so not that bad overall.
