Hello, Crafty Internet! Today I am sharing another small canvas mixed media project that turned out better than I thought it would. That’s the story of my crafting life… my projects have a habit of surprising me.
Anyway, here’s where we started off:
Okay, so no this isn’t the start but close enough… I started off with a pre-gessoed 5 x 5 canvas panel, added some crackle paste through a brick wall stencil by Tim Holtz/Ranger, and color using Dylusions paints. I mixed a little bit of the melted chocolate brown in with the post box red to get a darker red color, a little closer to the brick I was looking for. The white splashes came from some acrylic paint. I edged the panel with some black marble and let it fully dry. I was a little impatient to work on the project and didn’t wait until the crackle was fully dry before I added the color.
While I was waiting for the panel to dry, I started working on the focal point of the project. I have been into yellow flowers for a while now and daisies are my favorite flower so I wanted to use them for this. I kept it simple and colored them with Copic markers before fussy cutting them out.
Originally, I planned to use this layout, but eventually changed my mind.
I used a chipboard word I had in my stash. Because it is so delicate, I had to be careful with the heat embossing. It turned out very cute.
I ended up going with a three flower layout. I added stems because it looked odd to see the flowers just floating.
Here is the final canvas with everything put together. I like the sentiment because I constantly need to be reminded that I need to believe in myself. Sometimes that is hard to do.
So here is the simple canvas. I hope you enjoyed!
